Sai-Han Ackerman Yu, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC, is a talented nurse on the team of providers at Family Medical Home in San Antonio, Texas. She’s board-certified as a family nurse practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
Sai-Han was born and raised in San Diego, California. She attended the University of California, Los Angeles, for her undergraduate education, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a minor in gerontology. She stayed on at UCLA’s School of Nursing to complete a Master of Science degree in nursing.
After earning her master’s, Sai-Han spent years practicing as a registered nurse, gaining experience in adult medical surgery, telemetry, and pediatric intermediate and intensive care units. She decided to go back to school for her Doctorate of Nursing Practice degree, which she earned from the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio in 2018.
Throughout her career, Sai-Han’s skills have been recognized with numerous awards, including the Sister Charles Marie Frank Leadership Award and the University of the Incarnate Word Nightingale Society Award for Academic Achievement. She’s also a member of the Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society of Nursing and the University of the Incarnate Word Golden Key International Honor Society.
As a member of the team at Family Medical Home, Sai-Han is passionate about forming meaningful and trusting relationships with her patients. She’s also active in the medical community outside of Family Medical Home, having participated in a medical mission trip to Oaxaca, Mexico, in 2018 to care for patients from rural and underserved areas.
When she’s not working, she likes to hike, travel the world, explore different cuisines, and enjoy a good Netflix binge with her husband and their four-legged, fur-children: Gizmo and Lily.
